ECP Allocates Rs17 Billion for Security in 2024 General Elections

Islamabad: The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has earmarked Rs17 billion for security measures in anticipation of the 2024 general elections. The decision was made during a meeting held to assess and plan the security arrangements for the elections scheduled to take place on February 8, 2024.

The meeting, attended by the Inspector Generals (IGs) of all four provinces, served as a platform to provide detailed insights into the security preparations for the polling day. Sources reveal that the discussions emphasized the paramount importance of ensuring a peaceful and secure environment for the electoral process.

To meet the ambitious goal of safeguarding the democratic exercise, reports indicate that a total of 600,000 police officials will be required across the country. This strategic allocation of funds reflects the Election Commission’s commitment to implementing robust security measures, underscoring the significance of maintaining law and order during the electoral proceedings.
