Islamabad: The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) unveiled the preliminary list of constituency delimitation on Wednesday. This unveiling follows the completion of the digital census and brings the nation one step closer to the anticipated elections, tentatively scheduled for the end of January. However, the precise election date is yet to be officially announced.
The preliminary delimitation report, along with the associated lists (Form 5), and detailed maps illustrating the initial constituency boundaries, can be accessed by the general public on the Election Commission of Pakistan’s official website.
In a press release, the ECP stated that the publication of these preliminary constituencies will remain available for public scrutiny for a period of 30 days, commencing from September 27 and concluding on October 26. During this window, citizens are encouraged to review the proposed constituency designations and submit any objections they may have.
The Election Commission of Pakistan will consider objections regarding constituency designations until October 26, after which the process will move into the next phase. Hearings regarding objections are scheduled to commence on November 25.
With a total of 266 seats in the National Assembly, the constituency delimitation process is a critical element in ensuring fair and equitable representation for the citizens of Pakistan. As the ECP proceeds with these steps, the nation eagerly anticipates the announcement of the official election date and the start of the electoral campaign season.
