Sharjah: Emirati publishers have made a strong impression at the 2025 Bologna Children’s Book Fair, held in Bologna, Italy, from March 31 to April 3. The Emirates Publishers Association (EPA) successfully showcased Emirati children’s and young adult literature to an international audience, promoting the talent and creativity of the UAE’s publishing industry.
The event gathered industry leaders and content creators from around the world, providing a platform for Emirati publishers to expand their reach and build new partnerships. The EPA’s participation was aimed at highlighting the diversity and quality of Emirati content and fostering collaboration in copyright, translation, and creative production.
The EPA’s pavilion featured notable Emirati publishing houses, such as Ajyal Publishing and Kiwi Stories Publishing, both known for their innovative approaches to children’s storytelling. Also present were graduates of the Sharjah Publishing Sustainability Fund, including Dalal Hussain Al Jaberi of Hzaya and Fatema Hussain AlHammadi of Sohub Publishing & Distribution, both of whom focus on educational and culturally diverse stories.
His Excellency Rashid Al Kous, Executive Director of the EPA, emphasized the importance of the fair in establishing international partnerships to help expand the global presence of Emirati books. He stated that the fair provides a significant opportunity for Emirati publishers to grow their distribution networks and strengthen their position in the global market.
Dr. Abdulla AlSharhan, Vice President of EPA, highlighted the fair as a key event for Emirati publishers to connect with global industry professionals and gain insights into the latest trends in children’s publishing. This participation reflects the UAE’s ongoing support for its publishing sector as a vital part of the country’s cultural and creative landscape.
