Federal cabinet endorses operation Azm-e-Istehkam

Islamabad: The federal cabinet has officially endorsed Operation Azm-e-Istehkam, a comprehensive anti-terrorism initiative aimed at intensifying intelligence-based operations against militant groups across Pakistan. The decision, approved during a recent meeting of the National Action Plan’s Central Apex Committee, signals a renewed commitment to bolster national security and combat terrorism.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif reassured citizens that the operation would prioritize intelligence-led actions, emphasizing that there would be no indiscriminate raids on civilian residences. “Our focus is solely on targeted operations against terrorists,” the Prime Minister affirmed, addressing concerns regarding potential disruptions to civilian life.

Operation Azm-e-Istehkam, approved with consensus from all provinces, Gilgit Baltistan, and Azad Jammu and Kashmir, marks a strategic effort to dismantle terrorist networks and enhance security measures nationwide. The initiative aims to eliminate remnants of terrorism and violent extremism that pose a threat to the stability and peace of the country.

In response to concerns raised by opposition parties, including Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), Jamiat-e-Ulema Islam Fazl (JUI-F), and Awami National Party (ANP), Defence Minister Khawaja Asif affirmed the government’s commitment to addressing apprehensions through dialogue and consensus-building. “We are committed to addressing all concerns raised by opposition parties and ensuring transparency throughout the process,” stated Minister Asif.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif clarified misconceptions surrounding the operation during the federal cabinet meeting in Islamabad, underscoring that Azm-e-Istehkam represents a cohesive national strategy involving collaboration with security institutions. “This operation aims to eradicate terrorism and its networks comprehensively, without necessitating large-scale displacements,” he asserted, highlighting the operation’s multifaceted approach.

The federal government remains steadfast in its resolve to safeguard national security while maintaining transparency and accountability in its anti-terrorism efforts. Operation Azm-e-Istehkam is poised to reinforce Pakistan’s commitment to peace and security, marking a significant milestone in the nation’s ongoing fight against terrorism.
