First in UAE: Citizens School launches onsite community fitness and wellbeing centre

DUBAI: Citizens School, a school that is reimagining a more future relevant education experience, has announced the opening of Citizens Social Gym, a first-of-its-kind community wellness centre.

The new fitness and wellbeing centre is located inside Citizens School, a purpose-built facility thoughtfully curated to provide world-class learning and community spaces. The reimagined wellness facility is the ideal space for content creators looking to raise awareness on the importance of physical health. Located in City Walk, the centre serves communities across Jumeirah 1 and Al Wasl.

The launch of Citizens Social Gym is part of Citizens’ wider vision to contribute to a globally recognised future learning framework, enabling learners to thrive and enjoy a better quality of life in the future.

This announcement is another example of Citizens School pushing the boundaries of education. Last year, it became the first school in the Middle East to accept cryptocurrency as a mode of payment for tuition fees.

Dr. Adil Alzarooni, founder of Citizens School, said: “The opening of Citizens Social Gym in the school is not just about promoting physical fitness to our students, but also fostering a culture of resilience, discipline, and determination in our community. By providing a state-of-the-art wellness facility for sports and exercise, we are instilling the values of hard work, perseverance, and a healthy lifestyle, which will serve our community well beyond the walls of our school. The fitness centre represents a beacon of wellness and health education, as it aims to connect to a wider virtual community focused on spreading knowledge about wellbeing.”

The gym has its own entrance, allocated parking spaces, sports café and is fitted out with state-of-the-art equipment suitable for all levels of ability. In addition, the local community will also have access to a variety of wellness products.

“We aim to continue to contribute to the position of Dubai as a global hub of learning excellence, and we are proud to be a part of a diversified knowledge economy that values education, growth, and opportunity for all. We believe that the future of wellness is prevention, and our vision is in line with the KHDA’s newly launched guiding framework, Wellbeing Matters, which focuses on improving the wellbeing of school students in the UAE,” added Alzarooni.

Memberships will be available to the public, with parents of Citizens School being able to benefit from a discounted rate.
