Dubai: In line with its commitment to enhancing human and social values, the General Directorate of Identity and Foreigners Affairs – Dubai (GDRFA Dubai), in collaboration with the Community Development Authority, organized a special event to mark the International Day of Older Persons, celebrating the role of senior citizens in nation-building.
The gathering brought together elderly members of the community in a warm and joyful setting, offering a range of interactive activities designed to foster belonging and appreciation. A creative workshop on decorating personal items showcased the artistic talents of senior citizens, while friendly competitions and social activities helped strengthen their engagement with the wider community.

An awareness session was also conducted to educate participants on the risks associated with hiring illegal workers and how to respond to violations, reinforcing public safety and legal awareness among older residents.
A key focus of the event was connecting generations, with youth participating alongside senior citizens to exchange experiences and life lessons. Organizers said the initiative reflected the UAE’s vision of empowering all segments of society and recognizing people as the true drivers of development.

Brigadier Abdul Samad Hussain Al Blooshi, Assistant Director General of the Leadership and Future Sector at GDRFA Dubai, emphasized the importance of honoring elders, stating: “Senior citizens are a cornerstone of our society and a source of wisdom and pride. Celebrating this day is a testament to Dubai’s commitment to valuing their contributions and placing people at the heart of development.”

Participants expressed gratitude for the initiative, saying it brought joy, recognition, and a renewed sense of purpose. The event concluded with a shared message of loyalty, mutual respect, and the importance of building a cohesive society that connects past, present, and future.
