Major General Obaid Muhair bin Suroor, Deputy Director General of the General Directorate of Residency and Foreigners Affairs (GDRFA) in Dubai, honored the third batch of department directors upon their successful completion of the training program titled “Foresight and Proactive Media Engagement.” The ceremony was attended by several assistant directors and senior officials.
The program was designed to strengthen the media competencies of GDRFA leaders, equipping them with the skills necessary to engage with media professionally and confidently. It aims to enhance the department’s public communication capabilities while reinforcing its institutional image and commitment to open and transparent dialogue.

In his remarks, Major General bin Suroor emphasized the importance of building a strong foundation of official spokespersons within government institutions. “Developing capable official spokespersons is a cornerstone of our institutional approach,” he stated. “It reflects GDRFA Dubai’s commitment to transparency and openness through a responsible, informed public discourse that aligns with the wise leadership’s vision of a government centred on human wellbeing.”
The comprehensive program covered essential topics such as communication principles, the characteristics of an effective spokesperson, media engagement techniques, crisis communication, and the delivery of concise and impactful messages. Participants engaged in a variety of interactive training methods, including scenario-based exercises, mock interviews, and realistic simulations to ensure practical, hands-on experience.
This initiative is part of GDRFA Dubai’s broader strategy to foster a proactive, well-prepared workforce that can represent the institution with credibility and effectiveness across local and international platforms.
