Islamabad: A global fund has been established under the United Nations to compensate the losses of countries affected by climate change.
The establishment of the “Damage and Loss” Fund is a practical step towards climate justice. “Cop-27” wrote a new history, world leaders including the Secretary General of the United Nations played an important role.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, Foreign Minister Bilawal Bhutto and Meteorology Minister Sherry Rehman raised their voice for climate justice at the regional and global level.
Through the “Damage and Loss” Fund, financial assistance will be provided to countries suffering from floods and other climate-related losses, and flood victims in Pakistan will be greatly assisted in rehabilitation and reconstruction.
Compared to the Paris Accord and the Green Marshall Plan, COP-27 has written history by taking practical steps.
It should be noted that the “COP-27” summit was held in Sharm el-Sheikh, Egypt on November 7-8. Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif attended the conference and on the special invitation of the President of Egypt.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif was the co-chairman of the round table conference on climate change on the topic of “Image and Loss”, while the major part of the Prime Minister’s address to the conference was about the damage caused by climate change and its remedies.
