Lahore: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has decided to give a petroleum relief package of up to Rs.50 per liter for the low-income earners.
In Model Town, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif held meetings with federal ministers and special assistants in which other issues were discussed, including giving targeted subsidies to motorcycles and rickshaws on petrol.
On this occasion, Shahbaz Sharif said that all low-income consumers using motorcycles, rickshaws and other small vehicles including 800 cc will be included in the petroleum subsidy.
He directed that an amount of up to 50 rupees per liter should be allocated for petroleum subsidy and the practical program of petroleum subsidy should be completed as soon as possible. For effective implementation of petroleum subsidy, all relevant institutions should formulate a comprehensive strategy with mutual cooperation.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif further said that motorcycles, rickshaws and small vehicles are used by low-income people, so the petroleum subsidy will directly bring relief to the poor people.
