The leader of Pakistan Tehreek e Insaaf (PTI) Sher Afzal Marwat while Speaking ona private tv channel’ program , said, “[Interior Minister] Mohsin Naqvi and representatives of the government and the establishment tabled the offer to move Imran to Nathia Gali… but PTI rejected the deal.”
A similar claim was made by Imran Khan’s lawyer, Faisal Chaudhry, who said the former prime minister was offered relocation to his Bani Gala residence to serve the remainder of his jail term. “However, Imran stressed that he would not move anywhere until those detained without trial are released,” Chaudhry told reporters outside Adiala Jail.
Reports of potential “deals” come amid ongoing dialogues between the federal government and PTI. The party has made two initial demands: the release of all “political prisoners” and the formation of a commission to investigate the events of May 9, 2023, and November 26, 2024.
Marwat further claimed that assurances were made to release Imran Khan by December 20, but no one took responsibility for presenting written terms. “The PTI negotiation team wishes to consult Imran Khan before finalizing the charter of demands,” he added.
The second round of talks, held in a cordial environment, saw PTI negotiators seeking more frequent meetings with their jailed leader to finalize their demands. Despite being vocal about its objectives, PTI has yet to submit a written charter of demands to the government.
With a civil disobedience movement threatened by PTI if talks fail by the end of the month, the stakes remain high. Last month, Imran Khan urged supporters to begin the movement by withholding remittances in protest.
