The first round of talks between the government and PTI on the election issue has ended. In which no final decision could be reached, however, both the committees have agreed to continue the negotiations and sit again on Friday (today).
A two-hour long meeting between the government and PTI’s negotiating committee was held in the Parliament House Committee Room No. 3, in which discussions were held to discuss and settle issues related to the election.
A three-member negotiating committee of PTI, formed by Imran Khan, headed by Shah Mahmood Qureshi reached the Parliament House for talks with the government. Fawad Chaudhry and Senator Ali Zafar were also included in the PTI committee.
The government committee included PPP leader Yousaf Raza Gilani, Naveed Qamar, Finance Minister Ishaq Dar, Railway Minister Khawaja Saad Rafique, Prime Minister of Law Nazir Tarar, League leader Ayaz Sadiq and MQM Member of Assembly Kishwar Zahra.
There is no representative of Jamiat Ulema Islam in the seven-member committee formed by the government.
According to the sources, negotiations regarding the general elections were held in the meeting, in which the government and PTI put forward their respective proposals regarding the general elections.
