Lahore: The Motor Registration Authority of the Excise and Taxation Department will start a grand operation against token tax defaulters across Punjab including Lahore from Monday.
The excise department has decided to improve the recovery of the motor branch and crack down on 64 thousand 999 token tax defaulters vehicles of government, semi-government and large private companies.
According to the data of the Motor Registration Authority of the Excise and Taxation Department, 64 thousand 999 vehicles have been blocked on the online system, after which the purchase, sale and transfer of any blocked vehicle will not be possible until the vehicle He does not pay token tax.
Excise has blocked 64 Hazaz 999 token tax defaulter vehicles in its system for the year 2020, 21, 22. These defaulters are responsible for more than 3 billion ten crores, which has to be recovered, due to non-payment of tax, Excise Department End Taxation is also facing difficulties in meeting its revenue targets.
Excise department has advised to seize vehicles with change of chassis number, dubious documents and major tax defaulters, excise department has written a summary according to which legal action will also be taken against the owners of tampered vehicles.
The High Power Committee headed by the Excise Secretary will decide on the use of the seized vehicles, whether the vehicle will be used for official use or auctioned and the amount deposited in the treasury.
The Excise Department has sent the summary of approval of Seizure and Disposal Rules to the government for impounding vehicles on the pattern of other provinces, after the approval of which Excise will start operations during road checking.
