The Ministry of Religious Affairs and Interfaith Harmony has received over 72,000 Hajj applications for the Government Hajj Scheme, with the deadline set to end on Tuesday.
According to ministry spokesperson Muhammad Umar Butt, applications can still be submitted at designated banks on Monday and Tuesday, the final days for enrollment.
Umar explained that applicants can join relatives’ Hajj groups for convenience. To apply for the Regular Hajj Scheme, a first deposit of Rs200,000 is required, followed by a second installment of Rs400,000 (including additional facilities) within 10 days of the balloting. The remaining payment must be made by February 10.
Overseas Pakistanis are also encouraged to sponsor Hajj applications for themselves or family members to participate in the pilgrimage. Umar said this initiative aims to make the process smooth and transparent for all applicants.
In addition to the Hajj updates, the ministry announced the 40th Annual National Hifz and Qirat Competition. Competitions will be held at district and provincial levels, with provinces submitting nominations by January 15. Winners will compete in the national round, and top performers will represent Pakistan in international competitions.
This year’s competition includes separate categories for boys, girls, and youth to provide equal opportunities for participants across all regions. Umar emphasized that the initiative promotes Quranic education and encourages young talent in the country.
