Lahore: Babar Azam, and Haris Rauf shared a chuckle during Iftikhar Ahmed’s blazing knock during the third T20I against New Zealand at Gaddafi Stadium, Lahore.
Iftikhar brought Pakistan back into the contest from 88-7 with a whirlwind 24-ball 60 as they attempted to chase down New Zealand’s 163-5.
The veteran batsman smashed six sixes and three fours. After hitting a six on the first delivery of the 18th overs, camera panned to the dugout, where Haris can be seen saying, “Hit more, chachu (Aur maar day, chachu)”.
The sentence immediately brought a smile on Babar’s face and they shared a chuckle, as Iftikhar is often referred to as ‘chachu’ by Pakistan fans.
Reacting to Iftikhar’s brilliant innings, Afridi took to Twitter to also express his feelings about the player and said that Iftikhar is ‘boom boom’ for him and not ‘chacha’.
“You are not chacha for me @IftiAhmed221 you are boom boom but I wish that you had finished the match and make yourselves a memorable inning. Overall well played, it was good cricket over all, the fans enjoyed. Well done @TheRealPCB and thank you for coming @BLACKCAPS to Pakistan,” he wrote on Twitter.
Iftikhar’s brilliant 60-run knock from 24 balls wasn’t enough to take Pakistan over the line as the Men in Green fall short by 4 runs.
