Hatta border sees 145,000-plus travellers during UAE, Oman national day holidays

GDRFA Dubai says “Sanad Team Plan” ensured smooth flow despite exceptional surge in traffic

DUBAI: The General Directorate of Identity and Foreigners Affairs – Dubai (GDRFA Dubai) processed 145,265 travellers through the Hatta border crossing between 25 November and 2 December, a period that saw a major spike in movement due to the UAE’s 54th National Day and Oman’s 55th National Day celebrations.

The authority said the surge highlighted its strengthened border readiness and operational capacity to maintain smooth, uninterrupted service during peak seasons.

According to officials, the performance was made possible through the implementation of the “Sanad Team Plan”, which expanded the border post’s capacity through precise staff deployment and enhanced coordination among concerned entities. The plan ensured a steady flow of travellers and elevated on-ground readiness despite the overlapping holiday pressure.

Lt Gen Mohammed Ahmed Al Marri, Director General of GDRFA Dubai, said the results at Hatta reflected the professionalism of teams working under a “human-centric approach” designed to keep the traveller at the centre of operations. He said processing more than 145,000 travellers during peak holidays demonstrated the flexibility of GDRFA Dubai’s systems and its ability to convert crowding into an organised and smooth experience that boosts public trust.

Major General Salah Ahmed Al Qamzi, Assistant Director General for Marine and Land Ports Affairs, said land ports experienced simultaneous increases in traffic due to celebrations in both “brotherly nations,” requiring heightened readiness and carefully structured deployment. He said the Sanad Plan allowed teams to respond quickly to sudden surges in traveller volume while maintaining service quality and processing times, in line with Dubai’s standards for safe and seamless travel.
