Helsinki to have Finland’s first Ramadan Festival

HELSINKI: Pakistanis living in Finland will celebrate their first ever Ramadan Festival, which will be organised by PIFA (RY), on April 8.

The special event, one of its kind in Finland, will provide the people the chance to mingle, share smiles and joy, and have a lot of fun.

People will have plenty of food options to break their fast together — this beautiful tradition enables people to get closer and revitalises the feeling of helping one another and of generosity, as well.

There will be a lot of shopping and fun along with food to enjoy and spend time together.

As per Ms Iram, who is chairperson of the Pakistanis in Finland Association, PIFA (RY), these kinds of festivals are very important, especially in Finland where the Pakistani community does not have many options to network with other Pakistanis.

“These events make us forget our cultural and religious differences. They unite people who come together for the sole purpose of celebration and happiness. Other than that, festivals also help us embrace our culture and religion. They are very helpful in breaking the monotony of life,” she said.

PIFA (RY) is continuously working on these kinds of events to bring people together to network, celebrate, make friends, and learn something new about another ethnic group.

The Ramadan Festival will take place at Redi Shopping Mall in Helsinki from 3pm to 6pm and people from all over Finland are welcome to join.
