ICT Police launch crackdown against illegal foreign residents

Islamabad – The Islamabad Police have taken decisive action to address the issue of illegal foreign residents within the city, launching a comprehensive operation aimed at identifying and addressing this longstanding concern.

During the operation, which began last week, a total of 1,126 individuals were meticulously scrutinized by the Islamabad Police. Alarming findings emerged as 503 of these individuals were discovered to be lacking the necessary identification documents, raising concerns over potential security risks and immigration violations.

Under the provisions of the Foreigners Act, the individuals found without proper documentation have been swiftly presented before the courts. Section 14 of the Foreigners Act empowers law enforcement to take appropriate legal action against those residing in the country without valid permits or documentation.

In a statement, Islamabad Police officials emphasized the importance of citizen cooperation in tackling this issue and urged residents to report any cases of illegal foreign residents in their neighborhoods. The police have assured the public that the identities of those reporting such cases will be kept confidential.

The officials also made it clear that while associating criminal activities with illegal foreign residents is not appropriate, harboring or employing them will be considered a punishable offense under the law. This underscores the seriousness with which the authorities are addressing the issue and the determination to maintain the city’s security and legal integrity.

The operation against illegal foreign residents is part of a broader effort by Islamabad Police to ensure the safety and legality of the city’s population. As the operation continues, the authorities are focused on upholding the law and protecting the rights of both legal residents and visitors to the nation’s capital.
