Imran admits to invest Shaukat Khanum’s funds in housing project

Islamabad: Chairman Pakistan Tehrik Insaf (PTI) Imran Khan has admitted the investment of Shaukat Khanum’s funds in private housing projects.

According to  Leading News, the District and Sessions Court of Islamabad heard the case of damages of ten billion rupees against Khawaja Asif on behalf of former Prime Minister. Imran Khan appeared in the court from Lahore Zaman Park through video link.

The case was heard by Additional Sessions Judge Umid Ali Baloch. Khawaja Asif’s lawyer Haider Rasool Mirza appeared before the court. Imran Khan’s lawyer Nauman Farooqui was also present in the court. Ali Shah Geelani, another lawyer of Khawaja Asif was also present in Zaman Park while other lawyers of Imran Khan were also present with him in Zaman Park.

Khawaja Asif’s lawyer, Barrister Haider Rasool, cross-examined Imran Khan through video link while in the court and asked Imran Khan questions about the investment in Shaukat Khanum’s housing project. Imran Khan admitted to investing Shaukat Khanum’s funds in a private housing project.

Imran Khan said that I was told by the board of Shaukat Khanum in this regard, at that time I do not remember what the name of the housing project was.

The lawyer asked whether you were informed in writing by the board about this. On which Imran Khan said that he did not remember at that time whether it was in writing or not, the three million dollars which was deposited back by the board member, then the matter ended.

Lawyer Khawaja Asif said that the matter is not over, the matter starts from there, when 3 million was invested, the dollar rate was 60 rupees, when it came back, it was 120 rupees.

Imran Khan laughingly told the lawyer that if you come to the truth instead of asking questions here and there, then the matter can end quickly, to which Khawaja Asif’s lawyer said that he will complete the cross-examination in just 2 hours at the next hearing. Imran Khan said that he will inform about the date of the next hearing after looking at the schedule.

Later, the court adjourned the case for further hearing.
