Lahore: Aleema Khan said large-scale protest convoys compelled the government to act, prompting them to send Barrister Gohar to meet with Imran Khan at Adiala Jail. She stated that during this meeting, representatives of the PML-N-led government expressed their intent to facilitate the former prime minister’s release, citing rising public discontent as a driving factor.
Aleema also criticized the slow pace of legal proceedings against her brother, particularly in cases like the Jinnah House trial, which she said have made little progress. She called for expedited trials, arguing that delaying the process wastes time and resources for all involved.
“The PTI leadership is not seeking bail but demanding that the trials commence without unnecessary delays,” she emphasized.
She further accused the prosecution of lacking substantial evidence in many of the cases, suggesting that the prolonged legal battles are politically motivated.
Since being ousted from office in April 2022, Imran Khan has faced a series of lawsuits and legal challenges. He has claimed that his removal was part of an international conspiracy. The PTI founder’s incarceration has sparked ongoing protests and unrest among his supporters, adding pressure on the government to address the situation.
