Imran Khan’s Pre-Arrest Bail rejected in Toshakhana Case

Islamabad: An accountability court in Islamabad has dismissed the pre-arrest bail plea of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder Imran Khan in the Toshakhana case. The court’s judge, Muhammad Bashir, announced the reserved verdict on Imran Khan’s pre-arrest bail plea in the Toshakhana case.

The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) Deputy Prosecutor General Muzaffar Abbasi confirmed the rejection of the PTI founder’s bail petition and stated that arrest orders would be implemented. The anti-corruption watchdog is set to seek the accused’s remand tomorrow.

This development comes after the Islamabad High Court (IHC) reserved its verdict on Monday regarding Imran Khan’s plea seeking the suspension of his conviction in the case. The District and Sessions Court had previously awarded a three-year jail term to the former prime minister and PTI founder in the Toshakhana criminal case.

In the Toshakhana case verdict on August 5, the District and Sessions Court not only sentenced Imran Khan to three years in jail but also imposed a fine of Rs 100,000 on him. Additionally, the court declared the former prime minister ineligible to hold public office for five years, citing his deliberate submission of fake details related to Toshakhana gifts to the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP).

The court explicitly stated, “Imran Khan deliberately submitted fake details [of Toshakhana gifts] to the ECP and is found guilty of corrupt practices.”
