Imran Khan’s Release Unlikely, Says Faisal Vawda

Islamabad: Senator Faisal Vawda has dismissed the possibility of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf’s (PTI) planned November 24 protest yielding any significant outcomes, claiming it will amount to “nothing more than a water bubble.” Speaking at a press conference on Tuesday, Vawda also ruled out any chance of PTI’s founding chairman Imran Khan being released, predicting further challenges for the party.

Vawda stated that Imran Khan is likely to face an indictment on November 25, compounding the difficulties for PTI. He accused internal factions within the party of creating additional obstacles for their leader, alleging that certain members are striking deals for personal benefit.

Highlighting growing internal rifts, Vawda pointed out that many PTI lawmakers from Punjab have turned against the party, while the leadership’s focus remains limited to Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP). “Only the KP government is actively protesting, while the rest of the PTI leadership is idle,” he said.

The senator questioned the party’s ability to mobilize a significant gathering for the protest, suggesting it lacked both leadership and strategy. “Even if 5,000 to 7,000 people gather with plans to storm the capital, where is PTI’s leadership? They should lead by example and bring their own families to the protest,” Vawda remarked.

He hinted that PTI might backtrack on its protest call, given the logistical and leadership challenges, casting further doubt on the party’s ability to sustain its campaign.
