Independence Day celebrated at Pakistan Social Centre Sharjah

SHARJAH: Pakistan Social Centre Sharjah (PSCS) celebrated the 76th anniversary of Pakistan’s Independence Day with a colourful programme.

Fawad Khan from the Consulate of Pakistan was the chief guest on the occasion.

A large number of people including men, women and children participated in the event with great enthusiasm. Clad in national colours, national flags in their hands and big smiles on their faces, people greeted each other and expressed their love and devotion for the homeland.

The venue was aptly decorated for the Independence Day celebrations with Pakistan flags all around while there were food and drink stalls for everyone to enjoy.

Saima Naqvi, Cultural Head of Pakistan Social Centre Sharjah, and Syeda Aishal Zainab welcomed the guests to the programme.

The event began with the recitation of the Holy Quran by Muhammad Imran. Solidarity was expressed by playing the national anthems of the United Arab Emirates and Pakistan.

PSCS General Secretary Chaudhry Iftikhar Ahmed while welcoming the guests gave an account of the services of Pakistan Social Centre Sharjah provided to the community.

Children of Pakistan Education Academy Dubai presented beautiful tableaus. Children of Pamir Private School and Al-Amal English School presented passionate speeches and songs while famous singers Zadran and Hussain’s songs enthralled the gathering.

Through his beautiful dialogues, Shahzad reflected the sentiments of foreigners living far away from Pakistan. Elocution and painting competitions were organised among students and prizes were distributed among the winners. There was also a taekwondo demonstration.

Six-year-old Noorul Ain surprised the audience by reciting the complete Periodic Table. PSCS President Khalid Hussain Chaudhry was impressed and specially awarded this girl.

While expressing his views, chief guest Fawad Khan admired the enthusiasm of the Pakistani community and said that being a part of the programme made him feel good.

“Today, we have to pledge that we will be a source of our country’s identity even while living abroad and will never let its flag be undermined,” he said.

Khalid Hussain Chaudhry congratulated everyone on the Independence Day, saying: “Independence Day is an opportunity to remind ourselves how much our elders sacrificed to make our dreams come true.”
