DUBAI: The Dubai Police Innovation Council has begun assessing the final entries for the ‘Innovation Race’ initiative, aimed at attracting innovative ideas based on modern technology to enhance security and safety of Dubai.
The expert judging panel is discussing creative ideas and proposals submitted by participants from various nationalities.
Colonel Dr. Ibrahim bin Saba Al-Marri, Chairman of the Dubai Police Innovation Council, confirmed that the first edition of the ‘Innovation Race’ this year received 76 ideas in the field of modern technology.
The committee selected 26 ideas for discussion in the first phase of the evaluation after meeting specific criteria and race conditions.
He added that the 26 ideas were evaluated in the second phase to determine their applicability, with 12 chosen for the final evaluation, which aims to select the top 3 innovations that contribute to enhancing security and safety. The three winning innovations will be honoured at a special ceremony on the 26th of this month, with winners receiving cash prizes.
Colonel Dr. Ibrahim bin Saba Al-Marri explained that the ‘Innovation Race’ challenge revolves around the following themes for participants: smart cities, transportation and mobility, safety and security, specifically in the fields of artificial intelligence, drones, and robotics.
Participation in the race required a modern idea related to security and safety technologies, a special project form, and a brief presentation of the project. Numerous ideas were submitted in the fields of the Internet of Things, robotics, unmanned aerial vehicles, information security, artificial intelligence, machine learning and deep learning, self-driving cars, and more.
