Investment in medical education programmes receives immense concern from UAE govt: Dr. Majd Naji

DUBAI: Dr. Majd Naji, the founder of Liberty Dental Clinic, has stated that the investment in the medical vocational education receives immense concern from the UAE government — amidst robust endeavors to upgrade this category of education — with the aim of increasing the contribution of the medical sector in the GDP of the country.

“The investment in the medical vocational education takes place through integrating the newly graduated physicians in their new careers in ad hoc centres”, Dr. Naji said. “The physicians must complete the internship, and then they will get involved with the community of general practitioners. This step helps upgrade the public health, and strengthens the medical tourism as well,” he added.

“The Dubai Health Authority (DHA) and particularly the Health Regulation sector issued several decisions to support and activate the medical education in the region as a whole, not only in the UAE. Accordingly, students from other countries come to the UAE to obtain education in various medical fields,” Naji clarified.

He noted that the regulatory authorities in the UAE accredited Liberty Dental Clinic to be a training destination for students in internship in the dentistry field.

“Specialised centres in this field emerged to facilitate the access to work for the newly graduated, in the context of legislations and regulations drafted by the government to monitor and analyse the vocational data, in a manner which helps the development of policies and plans to stimulate these sectors,” Dr. Naji said.

Regarding the economic impacts of these specialised centres, Dr. Naji said that the impacts include the attraction of a big number of physicians from the neighboring countries to Dubai, as they may stay therein up to three years, according to the study program. “This can boost the demand for real estate sector and strengthen the activity of consumption within Dubai,” he added.

“The contribution of human health and social service activities in the GDP of the UAE grew 16.5 percent in the first quarter of 2022 to AED 5.027 billion,” Naji said.

“DHA implements a global system of 4 stages to accredit the vocational education programmes. Moreover, DHA adopted a strategy to strengthen its partnership with the various international authorities and institutions to keep pace with the latest developments in the health sector, as it is interested in the accreditation of the best international practices that aim to the assure the quality of health services,” he noted.

Naji underlined the fact that Dubai grants priority in the health care to the individual experiences through a coordinated network of services that meet the needs of individuals, protects their safety, rises up to the ambitions, expectations, and favourite choices of the individuals and their families and care providers, and also assures their involvement in the decision taking regarding the care and therapy.

“Health sector is one of the most attractive among the investment sectors in Dubai, as a new medical establishment obtains the commercial license each 24 hours, let alone licensing 37 health professionals, thanks to the significant facilitations offered to the investors and speedy procedures of license obtaining,” he clarified.

Dr. Naji underscored that DHA adopts an innovative and multidiscipline approach for health care, and works hard to enhance the lives of community members.

“Health institutions in Dubai boast readiness as per the highest global criteria, and under direct and permanent supervision from the part of DHA, which in turn follows up closely to assure the quality of these vocational education programmes,” Dr. Naji concluded.
