Islamabad hosts first organic market at F-7 Park to promote healthy living

MCI, CDA say initiative encourages use of green spaces and access to chemical-free food

ISLAMABAD: In a step aimed at promoting a healthy lifestyle among residents of the federal capital, the Islamabad Metropolitan Corporation successfully organised its first Organic Market at F-7 Park on Saturday. The initiative served not only as a shopping destination but also as a platform for community interaction and awareness about healthy living.

Held under pleasant winter sunshine, the market added to the park’s natural charm. Stalls offering chemical-free, fresh and healthy food products drew large numbers of citizens. Special activities for children and families were also arranged, creating a mix of recreation and wellness.

A total of 20 selected vendors participated in the market, offering fresh fruits and vegetables, homemade bakery items, artisan-prepared delicacies and high-quality cheese. Visitors welcomed the availability of natural products and described them as a healthy alternative to conventional food items.

Citizens praised the initiative, saying that access to fresh and quality products enhanced the shopping experience. Many termed the effort a positive step towards encouraging health-conscious choices in daily life.

The market featured a well-organised layout, soft background music and strict enforcement of a zero-littering policy. Visitors were urged to help maintain cleanliness in the park.

MCI Chief Officer Dr Anam Fatima said the initiative was part of efforts to promote parks as shared community spaces. She said the success of the first organic market reflected growing public awareness about healthy lifestyles and quality products, adding that the CDA and MCI plan to continue similar initiatives in the future.

Chairman CDA and Chief Commissioner Islamabad Muhammad Ali Randhawa said the market aimed to provide citizens easy access to healthy products near their homes. He said such initiatives not only support the foundation of a healthier society but also encourage responsible and positive use of green spaces. He added that similar markets would be organised in other areas of Islamabad so that more residents could benefit.
