Islamabad to House Pakistan’s Largest IT Park Initiative

The Capital Development Authority (CDA) has joined hands with the private sector to establish the Pakistan’s Largest IT Park in the federal capital.

The decision, approved by the CDA Board, reflects the government’s commitment to fostering innovation and promoting IT exports under the leadership of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif.

Spanning an impressive 3.3 acres in Sector G-10, the allocated plot will house the expansive IT Park, marking a significant milestone in Pakistan’s technological advancement. With an estimated coverage of 100,000 square feet, the Park is poised to accommodate a thriving community of 5,000 to 6,000 freelancers, providing a dynamic environment for collaborative work and innovation.

The envisioned Pakistan’s Largest IT Park in Islamabad is designed to be a comprehensive hub, featuring state-of-the-art facilities such as a research center, library, software house, conference rooms, and dedicated spaces for freelancers and startups. Additionally, the Park will serve as a platform to showcase IT products, fostering networking opportunities and industry collaboration.

Crucially, the construction of the IT Park will be financed by private IT companies, which will also lease office spaces within the facility. Despite private financing, the Park will be handed over to the CDA, ensuring sustainable management and oversight.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif’s vision for bolstering Pakistan’s IT exports was underscored in a recent meeting with the IT and Telecom sector, where he emphasized the importance of leveraging the country’s immense IT potential. He highlighted initiatives aimed at providing education, skills development, and essential facilities for startups, laying the groundwork for a thriving IT ecosystem.

Acknowledging the positive outcomes of previous initiatives, PM Shehbaz expressed optimism regarding the projected IT export volume exceeding three billion dollars this year. He directed authorities to formulate comprehensive strategies to further augment investment in the IT sector and enhance its global competitiveness through targeted legal and policy measures.

The establishment of the IT Park in Islamabad represents a significant leap forward in Pakistan’s journey towards becoming a regional IT powerhouse, fostering innovation, entrepreneurship, and economic growth in the digital age.
