IWPG Global Region 2 signs MoU for peace project realisation with Australia’s Femme Solidarity

SEOUL: The Global Region 2 of the International Women’s Peace Group (IWPG) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Australia’s Femme Solidarity on September 17 at Ha-yeong Hall, Kensington Resort, for the realisation of peace projects.

On this day, IWPG Global Region 2 held a meeting for the exchange and cooperation of women leaders with Sarah Chong, Director of Femme Solidarity, to achieve world peace.

Femme Solidarity is a community organisation that supports and amplifies the voices and rights of marginalised women, such as immigrants, refugees, and women of colour, and builds a strengthened women’s network.

Both sides discussed concrete plans to cooperate on peace activities, including IWPG peace events, Peace Lecturer Training Education (PLTE), and co-hosting a side event at the 69th UN CSW.

Sarah Chong stated, “Through PLTE, we will introduce new initiatives for world peace, and collective efforts are needed to achieve sustainable peace.” She added, “Next year, I want to attend the conference again with tangible results of peace activities and engage in more exchanges. I will also promote PLTE to Australian women, raise awareness about what true peace is in the community, and introduce women leaders who can work together for peace.”

Seo-yeon Lee, Regional Director of the G2, said, “There are many peace organisations and peace activists worldwide, but peace has not yet been realised. Let us continue to cooperate with IWPG to raise awareness of the importance of peace education and work together for women to take the lead in achieving peace.”

IWPG is a global women’s NGO registered with the UN Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC) and the Department of Global Communications (DGC). With its headquarters in South Korea, IWPG works with over 110 branches and more than 730 partner organisations worldwide. With the vision of ‘realising sustainable world peace’, IWPG actively promotes solidarity that the world needs, peace culture dissemination, women’s peace education, and the support and advocacy for the legislation of the Declaration of Peace and Cessation of War (DPCW).
