THE International Women’s Peace Group (IWPG) Global Region 2 held the online preliminaries for the 6th International Loving Peace Art Competition in Middle Eastern countries on June 22.
This competition was held under the theme of ‘Sending the heart of peace to friends suffering from war’. About 30 children and teenagers from eight countries, including Saudi Arabia, Iraq, Yemen, Lebanon, Syria, and Egypt, participated.
The International Peace Love Drawing Contest, hosted by IWPG, provides children and youth with the opportunity to imagine and draw a world of peace every year as part of spreading the culture of peace. The drawing contest is held every year in major cities around the world to spread the need for an end to global war, the value of a culture of peace, and to deliver a message of peace.
Participant Yasub (10) said, “I drew the Earth, Mars, the sun, and a rocket with the phrase ‘I love peace’. I am honoured to participate in the contest hosted by IWPG and I love peace.”
Muhammad Usaid (11) explained the work by saying, “Stop killing people with weapons. The world needs peace and unity because we stand with people who are going through war.”
For this competition, figures from various countries, including Pascal Isho Warda Hammurabi, head of the Human Rights Organization (former minister of Immigration and Refugees of Iraq), Anissa Hasson Abbas, head of the Yemeni Center for Arts, Culture and Folklore, and KSA Peace Ambassador Syeda Numera Mohsin, participated in the video.
A congratulatory message was delivered.
Meanwhile, IWPG is a global women’s NGO registered with the United Nations Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC) and the Department of Global Communications (DGC). It is headquartered in Korea and has over 110 branches and 660 partner organisations around the world.
