Islamabad An inquiry report into the January power breakdown across the country has been submitted to the Cabinet, in which human negligence and faults in the power transmission system have been cited as the main causes.
The Federal Cabinet meeting was held in Prime Minister House Islamabad under the chairmanship of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif. A detailed report of nationwide power breakdown was submitted to the federal cabinet on January 23, 2023. This report was prepared by the four-member inquiry committee set up on the instructions of the Prime Minister, headed by the Minister of State for Petroleum, Mussadik Malik.
In the report, not only the main reasons of this incident have been described, but also suggestions have been given to identify those responsible and to avoid such incidents in the future.
The meeting was told that on January 23, 2023, from 7:30 am, the power breakdown spread across the country in just four minutes after the power plants tripped. The main reason was human negligence in not switching on the AC circuits in morning that were switched off at night.
