DUBAI: Keolis MHI, the operator of Dubai Metro and Dubai Tram, marked its fourth anniversary on Sunday, reaffirming its partnership with the Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) and its commitment to sustainable and innovative urban mobility solutions.
The joint venture, comprising Keolis (France), Mitsubishi Heavy Industries Engineering (Japan) and Mitsubishi Corporation (Japan), took charge of metro and tram operations on September 8, 2021, under a nine-year contract with the option of a six-year extension.
Since then, the company has overseen major events, including Expo 2020 Dubai, New Year’s Eve, and the Dubai Run, while maintaining high operational standards with train service availability and punctuality close to 100 per cent.
Vikas Sardana, Acting Managing Director of Keolis MHI, said the anniversary provided an opportunity to reflect on the achievements of the past four years. “Our partnership with the Roads and Transport Authority has been instrumental in driving innovation, sustainability and community engagement,” he said.

The company has received several international recognitions, including the Vision of the Year Award at the Global Light Rail Awards, second place at the Dubai Award for Sustainable Transport (DAST), and two consecutive Nafis Awards for Emiratization after exceeding its Emirati workforce targets ahead of schedule.
Keolis MHI also achieved ISO certifications in safety, quality, environment, information security and asset management, as well as a 4-Star EFQM Certification for organisational excellence. Most recently, it attained a 100pc score in the 2025 International Customer Experience Standard (ICXS) assessment, improving from 92.2pc in 2023 and 96pc in 2024.
Alongside operations, the company has pursued community initiatives such as meal distribution during Ramadan, Eid events for orphans, blood donation drives and support for RTA’s Kiswat Khair and Back to School programmes.
