King Abdullah II visits GIDS, reviews joint military capabilities in Pakistan

RAWALPINDI: His Majesty King Abdullah II ibn Al Hussein, Supreme Commander of the Jordan Armed Forces, visited Global Industrial & Defence Solutions (GIDS) on Sunday, accompanied by Her Royal Highness Princess Salma bint Abdullah II and a high-level Jordanian civil and military delegation. Field Marshal Asim Munir, Chief of Army Staff, received the royal guests.

During the visit, King Abdullah II was given a detailed briefing on GIDS’ structure, defence production capabilities and product portfolio, highlighting Pakistan’s advances in indigenous technology and the growing potential for bilateral defence collaboration.

The Jordanian monarch later visited the Tilla Field Firing Ranges, where Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Azerbaijan’s Minister of Defence Industry, Vugar Valeh oglu Mustafayev, were also present.

His Majesty and other distinguished guests witnessed a joint fire and manoeuvre exercise featuring multi-domain operations, coordinated ground–air actions, spectrum warfare elements, and the employment of multi-purpose drones in various roles. King Abdullah II commended the professionalism and high training standards of participating troops and aircrews.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif said Pakistan holds deep respect for King Abdullah II and the people of Jordan, adding that the visit reflects the enduring friendship and shared vision for peace and development.

COAS Field Marshal Asim Munir reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to strengthening defence cooperation with Jordan and advancing shared goals for regional stability.

Earlier, King Abdullah II conferred the Order of the Military Merit (First Degree) on the COAS in recognition of his contributions to enhancing defence ties between Pakistan and Jordan.
