Kopiko named title sponsor of UIM F1H2O GP of Indonesia

JAKARTA: Kopiko was announced as the title sponsor of the UIM F1H2O Grand Prix of Indonesia at a press conference.

The opening round of the 2023 UIM F1H2O World Championship will be known as the UIM F1H2O Kopiko Grand Prix of Indonesia (powerboat racing).

Kopiko is one of the largest coffee producers in South East Asia, with the beans grown from rich volcanic soil on the beautiful islands of Java in Indonesia. The Indonesian brand was originally produced by Mayora Indah and is named after the Kopiko coffee bean that is found in Hawaii. It is currently available in 80 countries around the world.

The agreement was signed between PT Aviasi Wisata Indonesia (Persero) and InJourney and a number of sponsoring companies, including PT Mayora Indah Tbk, through its Kopiko brand.

Supporting sponsors include PT Parna Raya, PT Sinar Mas Agro Resources and Technology Tbk, PT Musim Mas, PT Sari Agrotama Persada, PT Astra Agro Lestari Tbk and Semen Indonesia Group.

The signing was carried out by Dony Oskaria, the director of InJourney, in the presence of Luhut Binsar Panjaitan, the coordinating Minister for Maritime Affairs and Investment, Zainuddin Amali, the Minister of Youth and Sports, and Kartika Wirjoatmodjo, Deputy Minister II of BUMN.

Panjaitan said: “UIM F1H2O Grand Prix in Indonesia is one of our efforts to popularise Lake Toba as part of the Super Priority Tourism Destinations (DPSP) in Indonesia. This collaboration proves that this event does not only belong to InJourney but belongs to the people of Indonesia.”

Last December, Amali accepted the handover of the championship flag from Sharjah to Indonesia.

“With the handing over of the UIM F1H2O World Championship leadership flag, Indonesia will be the 33th country to host an UIM F1H2O World Championship event. There are 20 world racers who will participate and of course, this will bring the popularity of Lake Toba to the eyes of the world,” he said.

Oskaria added: “Wet paddock and dry paddock have been completed, the podium will soon be completed, and container cargo has also arrived in Belawan. Of course, we are not only preparing event infrastructure but also other supporting facilities. We also collaborate and coordinate intensely with the local community.

“We have invited them to make a fan zone viewing programme at their own expense. These viewing places must be registered by InJourney so that they remain monitored. This shows that the F1H2O powerboat event will have a direct impact on the community itself.”

As many as 500 students will also help to make the event a success and will each be presented with a certificate for their involvement.

The opening race of the season takes place on Lake Toba in the northern part of the island of Sumatra from February 24-26.
