ISLAMABAD: Kyrgyzstan’s President Sadyr Nurgozhoevich Zhaparov arrived in Islamabad on Wednesday for a two-day maiden state visit at the invitation of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, marking an important step toward enhanced bilateral engagement between the two countries.
President Asif Ali Zardari, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, and federal cabinet members welcomed the Kyrgyz leader upon his arrival. A 21-gun salute was presented in his honour, while children dressed in traditional attire offered bouquets, reflecting Pakistan’s warm reception.
President Zhaparov is accompanied by a high-level delegation that includes senior cabinet ministers, top government officials, and leading business figures. According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the visit — scheduled from December 3 to 4 — will feature meetings with Pakistan’s top leadership.

During his stay, President Zhaparov will hold a one-on-one meeting with the President of Pakistan, followed by delegation-level talks with Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif. He is also set to address the Pakistan-Kyrgyzstan Business Forum, where business communities from both countries are expected to explore avenues for deeper economic collaboration.
The agenda includes wide-ranging discussions on strengthening cooperation in trade, energy, defence, education, people-to-people exchanges, and regional connectivity. Both sides aim to identify new opportunities to advance long-term strategic and economic ties.
The visit is viewed as a significant step in reinforcing Pakistan-Kyrgyzstan relations and enhancing regional partnerships in Central and South Asia.
