Muzaffarabad: The third phase of local elections in Mirpur division of Azad Kashmir will be held on December 8.
According to the directive issued by District Magistrate Amjad Iqbal, there will be a ban on the entry of unrelated persons into Mirpur on December 7 and 8. No tourist and unrelated person will be allowed to enter without any justification.
According to the Deputy Commissioner, the decision was taken in view of maintaining law and order, the ongoing election campaign in Mirpur Division will be terminated at twelve o’clock tonight.
In the three districts of Mirpur Division, Bhimbar and Kotli, the total number of voters is 1238049 in which 655550 male and 582499 female voters will exercise their right to vote.
4247 candidates including 53 women are contesting in the local body elections in 1070 seats, 2189 polling stations and 3376 polling booths will be set up for polling in the three districts, 222 polling stations are the most sensitive, 244 are sensitive and 72 are normal polling. The station was declared, more than 9 thousand people including 5000 police personnel will perform security duties to maintain law and order.
