Leave PTI if can’t attend Nov 24 protest: Imran Khan

Rawalpindi: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder Imran Khan has called on party leaders and ticket holders to fully commit to his planned nationwide protest on November 24 or leave the party. In a statement posted on his official X account, Khan urged the nation to participate in what he described as a decisive moment for “real freedom.”

Khan emphasized the importance of the protest, comparing it to the February 8 demonstration, and warned PTI leaders against making excuses for non-participation. “If you cannot join this movement, you should part ways with PTI,” he stated.

The former prime minister announced his “final call” on November 13, calling for protests against the current government, which he accuses of stealing the public mandate, unlawfully imprisoning citizens, and amending the Constitution to solidify its authority.

Khan, currently imprisoned in Adiala Jail, reiterated his stance on democracy in Pakistan, claiming the pillars of democracy, including the rule of law, free elections, and freedom of expression, are under threat. He criticized media restrictions, slow internet, and alleged suppression tactics against PTI.

In his statement, Khan also cited financial losses due to internet disruptions, claiming they cost Pakistan 550 billion rupees this year, though no references were provided for the figure.

The ex-PTI leader denounced enforced disappearances and alleged violence against PTI workers, blaming such incidents for tarnishing the reputation of national institutions.
