Legendary Radio Pakistan Voice, Taskeen Zafar, Passes Away

Rawalpindi: Renowned Radio Pakistan Urdu newscaster Taskeen Zafar passed away today in Rawalpindi after a brief illness. She was 67. Her Namaz-e-Janaza will be offered at 4:30 pm at Eidgah, Lalkurti in Rawalpindi this afternoon.

Born in Rawalpindi in 1957, Taskeen Zafar’s illustrious broadcasting career spanned over four decades. She joined Radio Pakistan as an announcer in 1980 and went on to host programs at Radio Pakistan’s News and Current Affairs Channel. Zafar also had a stint with Pakistan Television, where she read news and hosted music programs. In recognition of her exceptional services, she was awarded the Presidential Pride of Performance last year.

The entire broadcasting fraternity mourns the loss of this legendary figure. Taskeen Zafar’s eloquent voice and distinctive style of newscasting will forever resonate in the hearts and minds of Radio listeners.

Minister for Information and Broadcasting Attaullah Tarar expressed his deep sorrow over Zafar’s demise. In a statement, he remarked, “I am deeply saddened to hear the news of Taskeen Zafar’s death. Her passing is an irreparable loss not only to Radio Pakistan but to the entire media industry.” The Minister extended his heartfelt condolences to Zafar’s family and prayed for her eternal peace and the family’s patience during this difficult time.

Secretary Information and Broadcasting Shahera Shahid also expressed her grief, calling Zafar an invaluable asset to Radio Pakistan. “The void created by her demise will never be filled,” she stated, emphasizing that Zafar’s contributions will always be remembered. She extended her condolences to the bereaved family and prayed for their strength and peace.

Director General Radio Pakistan Saeed Ahmed Shaikh expressed profound sorrow, highlighting Zafar’s unmatched services in the broadcasting field. “Taskeen Zafar earned nationwide recognition as a newscaster and will remain a source of inspiration and pride for us. She will be dearly missed,” he said.
