Levies Personnel Martyred in Terrorist Attack on Kalat Checkpost

Peshawar: A Levies personnel was martyred, and two others sustained bullet injuries after terrorists launched an attack on a security checkpost in Balochistan’s Kalat district.

According to a spokesperson of the provincial government, the terrorists fled the scene after facing retaliatory fire from the Levies personnel. Authorities have since launched an investigation into the attack.

The deceased’s body and the injured personnel were shifted to a hospital in Quetta for medico-legal formalities and medical treatment, the spokesperson added.

Security forces immediately cordoned off the area and initiated a search operation to eliminate any remaining threats in the vicinity.

Meanwhile, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif strongly condemned the terrorist attack on the Levies checkpost in Kalat. In a statement from the PM Office, he prayed for the high ranks of the martyred personnel and expressed condolences to the bereaved family, urging them to bear the loss with fortitude.

The prime minister paid tribute to the martyred Levies personnel, Ali Nawaz, and wished a swift recovery for the injured.

The tribal districts of KP (erstwhile FATA) recorded 19 attacks, resulting in 46 fatalities, including 13 security personnel, eight civilians, and 25 militants.
