RAWALPINDI: The Rawalpindi Bench of the Lahore High Court on Monday ordered the authorities to release Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf’s Senior Vice President Dr Shireen Mazari.
Dr Mazari was arrested thrice in a week following the May 9 violent incidents which occurred in Pakistan after the arrest of PTI Chairman Imran Khan in the Al Qadir Trust case.
After her initial arrest following the riots, the PTI senior vice president was released on Islamabad High Court orders on May 17. However, Dr Mazari was taken into custody the same day. A plea was then filed against her latest detention.
While ordering the authorities to release Dr Mazari, the LHC Rawalpindi Bench has also asked her to submit an affidavit to the deputy commissioner that she will not be involved in any violent activities in future.
Dr Mazari was first arrested on May 12 and detained at the Adiala Jail. She was again taken into custody four days later before being arrested one more time on May 17 immediately after her release.
