Maulana Fazlur Rehman Calls for New Elections

Islamabad: Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Fazl (JUI-F) chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman has intensified calls for fresh elections in Pakistan, citing concerns over the legitimacy of the February general elections where independent candidates backed by the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) secured a significant number of seats.

Addressing a press conference, Maulana Fazlur Rehman criticized the government’s handling of grievances and questioned the transparency of the electoral process on February 8.

“The current government lacks the mandate to address our concerns. We demand the restoration of public voting rights and the conduct of new elections under a transparent framework,” Maulana Fazlur Rehman asserted.

In a show of solidarity with the nation’s security forces, Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam chief expressed support for Operation Azm-i-Istehkam, emphasizing national unity in defending the country.

While extending an olive branch to the ruling Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), Fazlur Rehman indicated a willingness to engage in negotiations. However, he highlighted internal divisions within PTI and noted the absence of a dedicated negotiation team.

The Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Fazl (JUI-F) leader’s call for new elections is expected to intensify political discourse as the nation navigates through challenges of governance and electoral legitimacy. Stay tuned for further developments on this evolving story.
