Mazhar Saeed lauds Azerbaijan’s crystal clear stance on Kashmir issue

Muzaffarabad: Minister for Information, Government of Azad Jammu and Kashmir, Pir Muhammad Mazhar Saeed Shah, expressed his profound gratitude to the government and people of Azerbaijan for their unwavering support to the Kashmiri people’s just struggle for the right to self-determination.

Speaking to a delegation from Azerbaijan Television (AZTV), led by Almaz Mahmood Nasibova, the Minister praised Azerbaijan’s “crystal clear” stance on the Kashmir issue and its solidarity with Pakistan during times of conflict.

“We are grateful to all brotherly Islamic countries, especially Azerbaijan, for their steadfast support to the Kashmiri cause,” said the Minister.

Highlighting the gravity of the Kashmir issue, he noted that peace in South Asia is closely tied to the resolution of the long-standing dispute. Criticizing India’s policies, Shah said that New Delhi’s intransigence and deception remain the biggest obstacles to peace in the region.

The Minister briefed the delegation on the political and human rights situation in Indian-occupied Jammu and Kashmir, particularly in the aftermath of the Phalgam false flag operation. He said that Indian authorities have escalated atrocities against innocent civilians and warned against any further misadventures, stating that Pakistan would respond with even greater force than seen on May 10.

Touching on life in Azad Kashmir, Mazhar Saeed said the region boasts the highest literacy rate in Pakistan, with women even outperforming men in education. “The women of Azad Kashmir have proven their mettle in every sphere of life,” he added.

He highlighted various government initiatives aimed at improving living standards in Azad Kashmir, noting that the region remains one of the most peaceful in the country. “There are no political prisoners in Azad Kashmir. Our people enjoy the rights and freedoms guaranteed by the Constitution,” Shah stated.

In stark contrast, he described Indian-occupied Kashmir as an “open-air prison,” where tens of thousands have been martyred for demanding rights enshrined in UN resolutions. “Thousands of Kashmiri youth are languishing in Indian prisons, while Hurriyat leaders are detained under draconian laws,” he added.
