MDCAT exam: Punjab govt imposes section 144 in 12 cities

The Punjab government has imposed Section 144 in 12 cities across the province in preparation for the Medical and Dental College Admission Test (MDCAT), which is scheduled to take place on Sunday, September 22.

According to an official notification issued by the Punjab Home Department, Section 144 will be enforced in Lahore, Gujranwala, Sialkot, Faisalabad, Multan, Bahawalpur, Dera Ghazi Khan, Sahiwal, Rawalpindi, Sargodha, Gujrat, and Rahim Yar Khan. This measure aims to ensure a smooth and secure environment for candidates taking the entrance exam.

The order restricts entry to examination centres, permitting only registered candidates and authorized supervisory staff. The movement of unauthorized persons within a 100-yard radius of the examination centres will be strictly prohibited during the test hours.

The notification also includes a ban on carrying weapons, mobile phones, digital diaries, books, or guides into the examination halls and surrounding areas. Furthermore, any form of protest, demonstration, or interference with the exam process will be strictly forbidden.

To ensure the integrity of the MDCAT, the entry gates of the test centres will open at 8:00 AM, with all candidates required to be seated by 9:00 AM. After 9:00 AM, no candidates will be allowed to enter the centres. The test itself will last for three hours.
