Minister announces Rs15,000 phones on installments

Islamabad: In a recent interview with a private news channel, the Caretaker Federal Minister for Information Technology and Telecom, Umar Saif, revealed exciting news for mobile enthusiasts across Pakistan. Dr. Saif announced that by next year, consumers will have the opportunity to purchase affordable mobile phones manufactured in Pakistan through convenient installment plans.

The Made-in-Pakistan mobile phones are poised to disrupt the market with their affordability, carrying an average price tag of only 15 thousand rupees. Dr. Saif’s revelation highlights a significant step towards reducing the country’s reliance on imported mobile devices.

Dr. Saif also shared remarkable statistics regarding the domestic mobile phone industry. He disclosed that 33 local companies have collaboratively produced a staggering 57 million budget-friendly mobile phones, a remarkable feat in its own right. Even more impressive, a whopping 120 million of these locally manufactured devices have been exported to international markets, showcasing Pakistan’s potential as a global mobile phone manufacturing hub.

One of the key issues addressed by the Minister in the interview was the import-heavy nature of Pakistan’s mobile phone market. He emphasized that despite having 1.5 million cell phone users in the country, the majority of mobile phones are currently imported. Dr. Saif firmly believes that with the right infrastructure and support, Pakistan has the capacity to assemble and produce mobile phones domestically, effectively reducing the nation’s dependency on foreign imports.

This exciting development not only promises to make smartphones more accessible to a wider demographic but also stands as a testament to Pakistan’s growing prowess in the tech and manufacturing sectors. As the nation looks forward to the next year, anticipation is building for the arrival of affordable, ‘Made in Pakistan’ mobile phones that will undoubtedly reshape the industry landscape.
