Museums serve as bridges of communication between countries: Sheikha Latifa bint Mohammed

DUBAI: Her Highness Sheikha Latifa bint Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Chairperson of Dubai Culture and Arts Authority and member of the Dubai Council, emphasised the significance of commemorating International Museum Day.

Museums hold immense value as repositories of knowledge and cultural hubs that safeguard history and its treasures. They play a vital role in heritage preservation, documenting history, and transmitting knowledge to future generations, making them indispensable and influential institutions.

Her Highness said: “Museums are not just buildings that display historical artefacts. They are essential institutions that play a significant role in society’s development, serving as bridges of communication between countries worldwide and creating dialogues that foster civilisations. They have a profound impact on promoting sustainability as knowledge and creative hubs, supporting innovation in cultural industries and playing an essential role in social and economic development.”

Her Highness Sheikha Latifa bint Mohammed stressed that museums present the collective human experience that has shaped our civilisations, preserved our identity and culture, and promoted sustainable community development.

Her Highness Sheikha Latifa bint Mohammed highlighted the UAE leadership’s exceptional efforts to document the relationship between humans and history continuously and permanently.

She commended the wise leadership’s vision and the unique approach that has qualified the emirate to host the 27th General Conference of ICOM 2025, which marks a historic achievement for the country. She also emphasised that this accomplishment enhances the emirate’s global cultural presence and attracts the world’s attention to its capabilities and energy in embracing the future.
