Islamabad: The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) is taking strong action against alleged corruption and kickbacks in development projects in Gujrat, as it prepares a reference against PTI President Parvez Elahi, his son Moonis Elahi, and others. The reference includes allegations of corruption and misuse of authority, which have reportedly caused a loss to the national exchequer.
In this major development, the NAB has nominated Parvez Elahi, Moonis Elahi, Muhammad Khan Bhatti, and several others. Parvez Elahi faces accusations of misusing his authority and approving development projects against established rules, all while allegedly receiving kickbacks in return.
Furthermore, the investigation has revealed that Moonis Elahi allegedly played a key role in finalizing the share of kickbacks with the officials involved in these development projects. Shockingly, it has been reported that Moonis used some of the alleged bribes to purchase 384 kanals of land worth Rs72 million.
Additionally, sources have indicated that a significant amount, Rs100 million, was deposited into the bank account of former principal secretary to the chief minister, Muhammad Khan Bhatti. These funds are believed to be linked to the corruption scandal.
The NAB is now preparing to file the reference in an accountability court following the approval of the NAB chairman, marking a significant step towards holding those accused accountable for their alleged involvement in corruption and malpractice.
As this high-profile case unfolds, it will undoubtedly generate significant public interest and scrutiny, with many eagerly awaiting the proceedings in the accountability court to determine the fate of the accused individuals. Stay tuned for further updates on this developing story.
