Rawalpindi: Army Chief General Syed Asim Munir has said that Pakistan is passing through a critical juncture and it requires a national consensus among all stakeholders to tackle the challenges faced by the economy and terrorism.

According to the Department of Public Relations of Pakistan Army (ISPR), Chief of Army Staff General Syed Asim Munir was the chief guest at the commissioning parade of 118th Midshipman and 26th Short Service Commission at Pakistan Naval Academy Karachi. Chief of the Naval Staff Admiral Mohammad Amjad Khan Niazi welcomed the Army Chief on his arrival at the Pakistan Naval Academy.

The Army Chief congratulated the commissioned officers for successfully completing their training and becoming defenders of Pakistan’s maritime borders.

On the occasion, the Army Chief said that the maritime domain is constantly changing, due to technological advancement only those navies will be dominant and effective which will be professional and in tune with the modern trends of warfare.

Army Chief appreciated Pakistan Naval Academy for imparting quality education to Pakistani cadets and cadets of friendly countries. The Army Chief advised the young officers to be guided by their conduct, character, professional acumen and foresight as future leaders.

The chief guest distributed the prizes among the prize winners. Lieutenant Kashif Abdul Qayyum PN was awarded the Quaid-i-Azam Gold Medal for his overall excellence

Midshipman Naufail Malik was awarded the sword for his overall best performance. Later, the Army Chief visited the Malir Garrison where he laid a wreath at the Martyrs Memorial. Besides, the Army Chief also addressed Karachi Corps, Rangers and other CAF officers at Malir Garrison and emphasized the need to focus on the profession and requirements of modern warfare.

Earlier, Corps Commander Karachi Lieutenant General Babar Iftikhar welcomed the Army Chief on his arrival.
