ABU DHABI: Members of the Emirati-British Friendship Committee of the British Parliament were received by the National Human Rights Institution (NHRI) officials at its headquarters.
UAE Ambassador to the United Kingdom Mansoor Abulhoul was also present on the occasion.
According to the UAE’s state news agency WAM, the visit comes as part of strengthening international cooperation in line with introducing the institution’s activities and future plans.
This step is also considered part of the continuous efforts to develop mechanisms for human rights work in national human rights institutions in accordance with Paris Principles with organisations and parliaments at regional and international levels.
On the occasion, the National Human Rights Institution presented its vision, objectives and the best human rights practices that it aspires to achieve before the delegation and reviewed its accomplishments along with consequent plans and future ambitions.
The meeting that brought together the institution with the delegation of the British Parliament is the second of its kind after the first one that took place in February 2022 as part of the visit of the British Parliament to the UAE.
