Islamabad: Admiral Muhammad Amjad Khan Niazi, Chief of the Pakistan Navy, visited Turkey, Germany and Azerbaijan and held meetings with the military and naval leadership of the host countries.
According to the statement issued by the Pakistan Navy, bilateral cooperation between the naval forces and issues related to regional maritime security were discussed in these meetings.
During his visit to Turkey, the Naval Chief attended the inauguration ceremony of Pakistan Navy’s Malajum class corvette warship PNS Khyber at Istanbul Shipyard.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and President of Turkey Recep Tayyip Erdogan were the special guests of this event. During this visit, Begum Ameera Amjad, wife of the Naval Chief, inaugurated the newest PNS Khyber.
On the arrival of the Federal Ministry of Defense of Germany, the Chief of the Naval Staff was warmly welcomed. The Naval Chief met the Inspector of the German Navy in which matters of mutual interest were discussed.
Later, the Naval Chief visited Wilhelmshaven Naval Base, the Naval Chief was briefed about the German Navy Flotilla. The Naval Chief also visited a German naval warship. On arrival in the capital Baku, the Azerbaijani Navy presented a guard of honor to the Naval Chief. met the Commander of the Naval Forces of Azerbaijan and the Minister of Defense Colonel General Zakir Hasanov.
Admiral Amjad Khan Niazi invited the host Navy to participate in X-peace 23 and Pakistan International Maritime Expo and Conference, which aims to promote the maritime economy and find new ways of cooperation between the countries.
The Naval Chief visited the military unit and Azerbaijan Higher Military School and met the faculty members. The visit of the Naval Chief will further expand the defense relations between Pakistan and these countries.
