Nawaz Sharif calls for global action on Palestine

Former Prime Minister and Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PMLN) leader, Nawaz Sharif, has issued a heartfelt plea for international solidarity in response to the persistent Israeli-Palestinian conflict. In a statement posted on X (formerly Twitter), he highlighted the pressing need for collective action to address this humanitarian crisis. Notably, this message comes as Nawaz Sharif prepares to return to Pakistan on October 21 to actively engage in the upcoming general elections scheduled for January 2024.

In his statement, Nawaz Sharif emphasized that the consequences of Israeli aggression extend far beyond the borders of Palestine, impacting the very essence of humanity itself. He expressed deep distress over the tragic loss of countless innocent lives, including children and women, during the ongoing conflict, stressing that such events cast a somber shadow over the collective conscience of humanity.

Nawaz Sharif’s message read, “Israeli aggression is not merely an assault on Palestine; it is an attack on the essence of humanity. The martyrdom of thousands of innocent civilians, including children and women, raises profound questions about our shared humanity. It is imperative for the world to recognize that without a permanent resolution to the Palestinian issue, sustained peace remains at risk.”

He further added, “Pakistan, as always, stands firmly in solidarity with our Palestinian brothers. The government of Pakistan must raise its voice in every international forum to champion the Palestinian cause and take immediate action to provide essential necessities, such as food and medicine, to the suffering Palestinian population.”

Nawaz Sharif’s call for global action on the Palestinian issue reflects a sentiment shared by many Pakistanis and underscores the nation’s unwavering commitment to advocating for the rights and well-being of the Palestinian people on the global stage. His return, combined with his impassioned stance on this matter, sets the stage for a potentially transformative period in Pakistan’s political landscape as the country unites in solidarity with the Palestinian cause.
