NEPRA Approves Rs 7.5 Per Unit Increase in Electricity Prices

Islamabad: The National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (NEPRA) has announced a substantial increase in electricity prices, sending shockwaves among consumers. The regulatory body has authorized a Rs 7.5 per unit hike in electricity rates, citing fuel price adjustments as the primary reason.

According to NEPRA’s statement, Increase in Electricity Prices is necessary to offset the rising costs associated with fuel used in power generation. The decision comes in response to the increased expenses incurred in January 2024.

Effective from March 2024, this price hike will affect all electricity consumers, excluding Karachi Electric (K-Electric) users and lifelong consumers. NEPRA’s decision reflects the ongoing efforts to balance the economic dynamics of power generation amid fluctuating fuel prices.

The move has garnered mixed reactions, with consumers expressing concern over the potential impact on their utility bills. As stakeholders analyze the implications, NEPRA assures transparency and accountability in its decision-making process. Stay tuned for further updates on this developing story.
