Next elections in 2029 after completion of govt’s tenure: Tarar

Islamabad: Federal Minister for Information, Broadcasting, Culture, and National Heritage, Attaullah Tarar said on Sunday that the next general election would only be held in 2029 upon completion of the constitutional tenure of the incumbent government.

Minister Tarar’s statement comes amidst escalating political discourse following remarks made by Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Fazl (JUI-F) chief Maulana Fazl-ur-Rehman, who called for new elections citing concerns over the transparency and legitimacy of the February general elections.

Responding to Maulana Fazl-ur-Rehman’s press conference, Minister Tarar emphasized the importance of political dialogue within the Parliament. “The solution to all political challenges lies in negotiations and dialogue,” he asserted.

Acknowledging Maulana Fazl-ur-Rehman as a seasoned and respected politician, Minister Tarar called upon him to recognize the government’s economic achievements. He highlighted significant milestones including the growth in foreign exchange reserves and the record high performance of the stock exchange under the government’s economic policies.
